    Description

Up for your consideration is a played-with Brownette Side-Part American Girl Barbie head that is being sold as-is, as-pictured. She is all-original 1960s. Missing original body and headband.
Please ask all questions before bidding.
I was lucky enough to have spotted her in a buy-it-now listing. She was on an incorrect Midge/Barbie body. (not included in this auction) Her hair was in a super high, tight "fountain" type of ponytail, so at first I wasn't sure if she was just a regular American Girl or a Side-Part but decided to take a chance and made the purchase. It was obvious that she's a side-part once I had her in-hand and removed the elastic band (she came with yellow one pictured here). It's likely that she was in the ponytail hairstyle for decades because I could not get her hair to lie flat when I removed the elastic band. It was sticking straight up. lol! I've had the yellow elastic holding her hair down for about 2 1/2 months now and it seems to have helped lower it a little. She appears to be an early short hair version. The hair color looks like a light brownette to me.
Condition-wise, there are some issues. She is missing some of her face paint as shown. The vinyl is very dirty and needs cleaning, especially on the back of her head. I'm not seeing any missing hair plugs but there are some broken hairs. The outer part of her hair is still sleek, like the original owner never brushed it out, but underneath on the back there is frizziness and a swatch of hair that looks like it was clipped (it's shorter than the surrounding hair) or maybe broke off as a result of the tight ponytail and being exposed to the elements. Or maybe it was always like that. I'm not sure. She has one hole at each ear. I don't see any neck splits. Bangs are a bit choppy, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be.
Let me know if you have any questions or need additional pictures of something in particular. Thank you for visiting my auction.
