Description
For sale is 1 set of 4 (four) new pulsed flashlamps type INP - 5/75, made in former USSR around years 80's. Their best use is to pump solid-state laser rods as Nd:YAG, Nd:glass, or ruby. Plasma discharge size: 5 mm dia. x 75 mm length, ideally should match the laser rod size. Recommended laser rod diameters 4 mm to 7 mm, and lengths 70 mm to 85 mm. New, never used, taken from their original boxes and partially cleaned (the last five pictures show a box before and after opening, and before cleaning the lamp). Total lamp length (with electrodes) 140 mm, outside flashlamp diameter 6.7 mm. Electrodes look identical, unsure whether the lamp is polarized or not. Usually, the vacuum "tip off" is near the cathode (negative) electrode. The following are the nominal parameters from the lamp data sheet: min. working voltage 600 V; self-igniting voltage min. 2.5 kV; max. pulse energy 120 J for min. 105
pulses lifetime, and 340 J for min. 100 pulses lifetime; nominal working voltage 1.6 kV - 2.3 kV; energy-storage capacitor 90 uF - 130 uF (uF = microfarad); pulse duration (at 35% of peak) 90 us - 120 us (us = microsecond); max. repetition frequency 1.7 Hz; max. average electrical power 120 W (open air) or 200 W (with coolant); peak trigger voltage 15 kV - 20 kV (measured on 100 kiloohm load), or greater than 3 kV (measured on 1 kiloohm load); min. trigger pulse duration (at 10 % of peak) 1 us. Recommended external trigger (0.3 mm - 0.5 mm Ni wire wrapped on the flashlamp by manufacturer). Examples of good estimated operating regimes for longer lifetime (two examples): pulse energy 100 J, with 100 uF, 1.4 kV storage capacitor, coil inductance 12 uH (uH = microhenry), lifetime 3.3 x 10

pulses; or 80 J with 100 uF, 1.0 kV, same coil inductance, lifetime 1.4 x 10

pulses. The discharge pulse duration is considered cca. 100 us. For other designs of the discharge circuit, please inspire yourself from the Catalogue Verre et Quartz, at: flashlamps-vq.com/CatalogueVQF.pdf, and from the course "Flashlamps power supplies and triggering" at http://pe2bz.philpem.me.uk/Lights/-%20Laser/Info-902-LaserCourse/c04-04/mod04_04.htm. Useful for pumping relatively low repetition frequency laser rods as Nd:YAG oscillators or amplifiers, or Nd:glass and ruby oscillators. Also as laser history collectible items.
