Comments: * Vollmer 1; Gutenberg 726. - Monogrammed in the print. On the 1st Behmer was born in Weimar in October 1879, his father is the painter Hermann Behmer. As an autodidact, he taught himself his art skills, and early on he enjoyed great success as an illustrator at Insel-Verlag. In 1903 he began his military career, which ended in 1917 after a serious illness. Also in 1903 he joined the first homosexual organization in Berlin, in 1937 he was convicted of his sexual inclinations in Constance and served his imprisonment in Freiburg and other places in southern Germany. On 12. September 1958 he dies in Berlin. Not only has his diverse bookplate work not been researched to this day. - Good copy.
